Fab Tunes: Khalid

Khalid American Teen
It's been a minute since I've shared music with you. I took a trip to NYC this winter and while staying at this chic mid-Manhattan hotel, the hotel's eatery had Khalid's American Teen on repeat. An instant fan---I became. The fifteen track album is a laid back, melancholy and soulful listen. The now 20-year-old  military brat from Georgia released his first hit, Location in 2016. American Teen is the kind of album that you keep on repeat when you're soaking up sun at the beach, spring cleaning, feeling down, getting dressed, at the office or simply enjoying some downtime. Khalid Robinson tells a compelling story about his high school experience with pain, relationships, technology and wholesome teenage fun (which includes smoking...

5 Spirit Lifting Inspirational Songs

Music is said to be the universal language. I've always been one to believe that the three most fundamental things to understanding and embracing worldly culture are music, food and fashion. So it is by no surprise that all three of these art driven expressions help to bring tremendous balance to my life. My music choices are as versatile as my fashion. There is a little bit of everything in my iTunes library, and I do mean everything. So please don't judge me when you see me riding out to my trap music. LOL. 5 Songbirds You Should Know

I've always been one to believe that the three most fundamental things to understanding and embracing worldly culture is music, food and fashion. A great understanding of each other and what makes each of us so unique and perfectly different is mostly driven by what our cultural influences are and what type of music we listen to. When I seek inspiration during my least inspiring moments, I turn to music. Especially when I'm in a creative mood. I'm always on the hunt for new and exiting sounds in music. Here are five talented songbirds that you should certainly keep on your radar.  1. PJ | Not quite soul. More like pop-rock and I'm so here for it. The singer/song-writer has...

Music Monday: Laura Mvula

Certainly an oldie, but a goodie. When I first heard this LP back in 2013 I couldn't help but to breathe a breath of fresh air. The now 29 year-old Brit brought something fresh and unique to the music scene. Influenced by American legends such as  Lauren Hill, Jill Scott, and Erykah Badu----Sing To The Moon is eclectic. It's British. It's Brilliant. It's Beautiful. If you're open to different sounds, you should certainly give Laura Mvula a listen. ...

New Music Alert | Tweet: Charlene

So can I just share with you the fact that so many underrated music artists usually tend to be favorites of mine? Take this songwriter/songstress, Charlene Keys--- aka Tweet for example. In the 90s she delivered sultry hooks on the albums of artists like Timberland, Missy Elliot and others. But it was 2002 when the soul bird delivered a masterpiece in Southern Hummingbird--a 16 track album laced with soulful vocals over superb production, to which the artist herself helped to produce. Fourteen years later and Southern Hummingbird still gets major play around my way. It's a classic. A breath of fresh air. A masterpiece. After a industry sabbatical, she's back with her fourth album Charlene---a self reflection of her personal,...
