10 Beauty Essentials

Certainly it is frustrating trying to navigate through the saturated and confusing world of beauty—in hopes of finding that perfect youth preserving or beauty enhancing formula. But with every good product lies tens, hundreds and even thousands of unsatisfactory ones. Whether you’ve got dry skin, combination skin or oily, I’m sure you’ve experienced a market place saturated with millions of products claiming to rid you of your most annoying beauty ailments.  Many to which simply will not work for us. So if you are like me, when you do find a product that works, you stay as loyal to that brand as does the family pet to its owner. I’m loving these picks right now and wanted to share what works best for me. I always get compliments on how “perfect” my skin is but the truth is, it’s certainly not as perfect as it once was. And as a thirty-something, it’s important that I treat my skin with a little tender loving care. What are some of your best tried and true beauty must-haves?

  1. Make Up Forever HD Foundation – I’ve been wearing MUF HD for at least four years now and I’ve been totally pleased. It’s a liquid foundation that dries in the powder form. It provides me with the medium coverage that I need. If you need full coverage, this may not be the right option for you.
  2. Coconut Oil – I’m a huge fan of natural oils. Coconut oil happens to be one of them. Not only is coconut oil considered a “super food”, it is a great and natural beauty product. Simply apply it to your skin, hair and nails and watch it work.
  3. Sigma Beauty Brushes – I can’t remember who introduced me to this brand of makeup brushes, but I’ve been using this brand for some time now and love it. I’ve used other brands in the past, but these brushes also stand up to the other well known brands, not to mention their inexpensive and competitive price point. Can we say….winning!
  4. PHILOSOPHY Hope in a Jar Moisturizer – I’ve been using this for years now. I won’t even consider using any other product as my daily moisturizer.
  5. LUSH Oatifix Mask – You should certainly have a good mask. Facial masks provides deep nourishment to the skin. Much needed nourishment after all of the sun damage, makeup and other damage our sky is exposed to on a daily basis.
  6. Purity Made Simple – A light and refreshing facial wash that works. I love it.
  7. Bioderma – This water-based makeup remover is the bomb. It’s a must have for me.
  8. Embryolisse Cream – This is an oldie but goodie. I have dry skin so its rich composition works well for me. I use it as my night cream.
  9. Vitapointe – I’ve been using this hair cream FOREVER. No seriously. Probably fifteen years now. When rocking short and relaxed hair it has to be laid and this product does that and more.
  10. Sunaroma Oatmeal Vitamin E Soap – This is the only soap that I’ve used for years. It is simply amazing. It’s a blend of Shea butter, oatmeal and vitamin E. I’ve used some of the French luxury brands but this Brooklyn-based company makes a phenomenal product at an even greater price point. I usually purchase a case at a time. I think a case comes with approximately 100 soaps.
