Fashion Takes Flight: The United Way

The United Way’s Suncoast division has been at the forefront of charitable giving and community leadership for more than eight decades. The organization has worked with local Tampa Bay Area businesses, agencies and other charitable partners to leverage resources to communities most under-served. Through these philanthropic efforts; the organization strives to strengthen communities through education, financial stability and positive health outcomes; a mission that is not only key to the organization’s success, but of the success of the community as a whole. On Friday, April 4th the organization will be celebrating its 10 year anniversary of their annual The Art of Giving event, where all proceeds will benefit The United Way Suncoast’s Early Literacy Initiative (ELI). A program established to help children build the necessary reading skills through parental engagement, volunteer mobilization, caregiver support, teacher training and community awareness. To learn more about this wonderful initiative, please visit their website here. To help celebrate this signature milestone in style—Tim Gunn, of Lifetime’s Project Runway: Under Gunn will be on board the flight to share his perspective on life, philanthropy, fashion and how to simply make it work! Also on board is former Project Runway finalist and alum, designer Rami Kashou who will be showing his latest collection in an exclusive runway show and will meet with guests following the show. If you are unable to attend this fabulous event, I challenge you to contact the good folks of The United Way Suncoast to make a charitable donation or inquire about other ways that you can make a positive impact by supporting the Early Literacy Initiative.

“Without community service, we would not have a strong quality of life. It’s important to the person who serves as well as the recipient. It’s the way in which we ourselves grow and develop.”
