2014: A New Year, A New Beginning

Year-End Message: As I reflect on the year through my rear view mirror, I realized just how many blessings I have to count. This global platform with a sole mission to foster bold, creative, fearless and inspirational empowerment to moms, sisters and friends alike. A rambunctious, smart and funny son who says and does the darndest things. A wonderful husband who is the calm to my craziness, the ultimate provider, a funny ass guy and the one who truly accepts me in all of my perfectly imperfect forms. Truth be told, I’ve had my share of setbacks last year. From the closing of my jewelry online store to my weight gain struggles…but nothing, I mean nothing will keep me from seeing the glass half full. In all of life’s craziness, hustle and bustle and daily demands that comes along with being a woman in a world where we are expected to rise to the occasion and in most cases rise above; with the responsibility to serve as mom, wife, friend, career-woman, aunt, business owner, etc. sometimes we fall short in taking time out away from everything to serve ourselves. If we don’t put ourselves first, then who will? Because truth is, if you are not happy and healthy….nobody else will be. I learned this the hard way by almost falling victim to a nervous breakdown early on in the year. So I pledge to put me first to be able to take care of anyone else. What’s ahead for me in 2014?

  • Fashionably Fit Challenge: I’ve challenged myself to lose 15lbs and tone up by April 1st. I’m sick and tired of not being able to wear what I want, how I want, when I want (my plight with cellulite is real) . As I enter my late 30s it’s important that I not only take getting fit seriously….but make it part of my permanent lifestyle. So take the challenge with me. Whether you want to lose a few pounds or simply tone up a little, lets take this fitness journey together starting today.
  • Travel Chronicles: I love to travel. It’s the perfect way for me to get my cultural awareness on and become connected with the world. I’ve visited 42 of the 50 states and enjoyed the experience and culture here at home. But I’m ready to see much more that is beyond the shorelines of the Atlantic and Pacific. Now that my son is older, it’s time to get back to collecting passport stamps. Stay tuned.
  • Sew Crafty Challenge: I haven’t been whipping out as many DIY projects as I would like to. I’ve lost my mojo and motivation somehow. But when I recently took inventory of all of the fabulous fabric sitting pretty and untouched….it’s time to dust off the Janome and get to sewing. I can’t wait to share my new garments with you in 2014.
So as you take a trip down memory lane, take a moment and reflect on what was and declare what will be. Take a toast to the fabulous year that awaits you while never leaving your glass half empty….but always half full. I’d love to hear what you have planned for the upcoming year. As always……Peace & Blessings and I sincerely thank you for reading along and supporting Fashionably Fabulous Blog. Your readership and support means a great deal and I am forever grateful to have you along in my pursuit of love and happiness.
Happy New Year
