It is such a wonderful feeling to be able to make garments tailored to your own body type. I mean, let’s face it—my body shape isn’t cookie-cutter and made suitable for those garments fresh off the wracks. How is that for ready-to-wear? I mean this 34-28-40 frame simply does not fit in the standard skirts, pants and dresses. Yes a size 4-6 sounds about right, but the measurements tell a much more important story. Just ask my hips. They can’t lie. LOL. I was so excited when I made this pencil skirt simply because it required much needed tailoring to by body. And my fellow seamstresses know the difficult task of having to tailor your own garments. A couple stitches, seams and darts later…out comes this high waisted pencil skirt. I kept the construction simple. Used a woven cotton fabric. Installed an invisible zipper in the back with a 4″ slit at the bottom.
I can’t believe summer is almost to an end. Did you guys have fun this summer? Any cool trips? Are the kiddies ready to head back to school? Well…until next time friends, Peace, Love & Blessings!
