DIY Maxi + Leatherette Peplum

 Hi Fashionably Fab Friends. . . . . . . . .
So I stepped away this weekend to attend a sewing and fashion conference hosted by the Fashionably Fabulous Mimi G. of Mimi G. Style. I’m sure many of you follow her blog but if you don’t make sure to check her out. I have so much love and admiration for Mimi. Prior to two years ago— I hadn’t touched a sewing machine and had totally lost my desire to sew since college. I was instantly inspired to tap back into my creative soul when I attended her very first sewing and fashion conference in 2012. This story was a common one–as many of us sewing and DIY enthusiast took to LA this weekend to share, inspire, learn and support a coalition of women in an ever so growing community.
Yeah…we got photo bombed by Mimi’s hubby so we did a double take. LOL
I stopped by the Farmers Market at The Grove.

And managed to squeeze in a visit to the Santa Monica Pier and drive up the pacific coast.

And of course you already know that the foodie in me couldn’t be in LA without getting my eat on.

I had my bestie model her DIY circle skirt and WERK the camera. So Ford, IMG or Wilhelmina–If you happen to be reading this, you should certainly give my girl a call. I’m just saying.

My girlfriend and I met some amazing and inspiring women who came together all in the name of the craft that was once looked upon as uncool. You know—a skill only reserved for those retirees seeking a post retirement hobby. One thing is for sure, there is a DIY movement brewing and the creative spirit in me is loving every bit of it. Freedom. Individuality. Confidence. Creativity–is what the craft means to me. It is undeniably a movement that is surely here to stay. I met some amazing women for the first time and reconnected with many this weekend. But if there is anything that I took away from this awesome weekend it was this—–it doesn’t matter the cards you were dealt. It’s how you play the game. When you give, you will receive an abundance in return. If you can dream it, you can achieve it. It is totally okay to step out on faith and take risks. And lastly….God is good. It was an inspiring, informative and resourceful conference.  Until next time . . . . . . . Peace, Love & Blessings!
