I’ve been to the state of California many times, but my recent trip to the city of San Diego was a first. I attended a healthcare conference in the area this week and instantly fell in love with the low humidity weather, spectacular food scene and the city’s amazing architecture. Nestled on the coastal banks of the pacific ocean, the second-largest city in California is also the birth place of California. Yeah, a little fun history fact that I learned during my trip. Seriously, I never really considered living in Cali until my recent trip to San Diego. I could certainly see myself living in this West Coast jewel if the cost of living was obtainable. Like many other cities in the Golden State, it is crazy expensive to live in San Diego county. In fact, San Diego’s cost of living index is 29% higher than the national average. Yes! 29%. It’s a gorgeous city though. Although, I didn’t get an opportunity to experience what their hood or underprivileged communities(s) looked like. With a 29% cost of living index, I’m sure they exist.
I had the pleasure of visiting some of San Diego’s coolest neighborhoods like East Village, the Gaslamp district, La Jolla Cove, Balboa Park, Mission Valley and Old Town. I found the city to have lots of excitement and personality. It appeared to have grown tremendously in recent years and represents a culturally diverse population. The city offers some of the most amazing food options that would be sure to please both foodies and restaurateurs alike.

The Port of San Diego is one of the busiest ports in the country. In fact, the Port of San Diego is the West Coast hub for most imports on the coast. San Diego is also home of the San Diego Naval Base— sometimes referred to as the 32nd Street Naval Station, which is the largest base of the United States Navy on the West Coast.
I had some of the most amazing food in San Diego. I’ll be sharing more in upcoming posts. Scallops & Polenta | Crab Wontons by Harbor House in Seaport Village
