5 Beauty Rules to Live By

When it comes to the world of beauty , there can certainly be information overload. From the latest trends, to home remedies to the social pressures of keeping our eyebrows on fleek. But it really isn’t that complicated. Whether you’ve got dry skin, combination skin or oily, I’m sure you’ve experienced a market place saturated with millions of products claiming to rid you of your most annoying beauty ailments.  Many to which simply will not work for many of us. Here are five simple beauty rules to live by that are sure to keep your skin looking its best.
  • Get Your Beauty Rest | I’ve got to have at least six hours of a good night’s sleep or else. Less than six hours of rest alters my mood (talk about cranky), creates eye baggage and causes unwanted weight gain. So yes, a sister simply gotta have her zzzzzzz.
  • Drink Plenty of Water | I can’t live without drinking at least 32ozs of water daily. I have dry skin and it’s really easy for my skin to flake and act an ashy fool. So the only way to combat this along with proper skin moisturizing is to drink plenty of agua.  Not only is water good for combating dry skin, it’s also good for ridding the body of impurities and controlling weight gain.
  • Moisturize Properly | Finding the best moisturizer for the skin can be a very daunting task. With millions of options in the market, there are a couple of things to consider when shopping for that perfect cream. Make sure you understand your skin type. Is it dry, oily, combination or sensitive. What are the core ingredients. And what is the sun protection factor (SPF). I try to stay with 30+ SPF protection.
  • Exfoliate | Ridding the skin of its surface dead skin is key to healthy and smoother skin. As I get older, I find the need to exfoliate more often. So I exfoliate both my face and body at least twice a week. It helps to combat my dry skin and helps to hold more moisture in after exfoliation.
  • Live Stress Free | Living a stress free (or minimal stress) life will do so much for our overall health and psyche. When we remove major stress factors from our lives (habits, people, etc)—life gets so much fulfilling and it ultimately shows in the vibrancy of our skin.
There you have it—-five simple steps to give your skin that extra boost of vibrancy and rejuvenation. What are some of the beauty practices that you live by?
