10 Menswear Fashion Staples

“Clothes and manners do not make the man; but when he is made, they greatly improve his appearance.”
-Arthur Ashe

The Crew Neck Tee – A modern day versatile staple that is suitable for a casual night out on the town— to bedtime. Surely any fit or style of t-shirt would work, but there is something about the crew neck fit that just makes any dapper dime stand out in a crowd. Throw on a fabulous tailored suit jacket with a pair of dark denim jeans, a casual pair of loafers, a great pair of Ray Ban sunnies and you’ll be sure to garner the attention of many.
Brown Pointed Toe Shoes – Long gone the days of the squared toe dress shoe. Thank heavens! Nothing screams elegance than a fabulous pair of slim, contoured shoe with a rounded toe, a modern classic that will literally never date.Torn between the colors brown or black? Opt for a brown, it’s more versatile. Don’t forget to look for excellent craftsmanship during your selection; even if it means spending a little more. It’s an investment worth having. Shopping designer discount online stores like yoox.com, bluefly.com or theoutnet.com can allow you to score some fabulous quality finds at exceptional deals.
White Button Down – There isn’t much to say about this classic and powerful staple. It’s classic. It’s fabulous. It’s versatile. It’s powerful. It just
works. If you don’t have one in your closet, add one now. It’s one of my
must-have staples. You can dress it up with a suit and tie or you can simply dress it down with a fabulous jacket and a pair of dark blue denim jeans.
Navy Blue Suit – If you don’t own one, shame on you. Every man should own a suit. Even if he never wears it often. There will be a need for one on many occasions ;an extravagant dinner, a wedding, a funeral or an interview—to name a few.
A Tie – Whether you’re suiting up for the office or putting together a look for a night out on the town, a tie will certainly bring color and texture to your look allowing you to tie together all of those fabulous elements. It’s the small things. The attention to details that puts the ‘S’ is swag. It’s what makes the dapper dime in you.
Dark Blue Denim Jeans – A dark rise pair of jeans is classic and will serve you right for many years to come. Opt for a straight-cut or tapered leg. It compliments the classic darker wash. Whether you opt for a pair of True Religion or Levi’s, you’ll always be in style with a dark blue wash.
Great Pair of Sunnies – One of the most important fashion accessory is none other than a fabulous pair of sunglasses. While rocking an awesome pair of specs speaks confidence about your
style; they do serve a more practical purpose too. They protect from
harmful UV rays. They protect from debris. They remove excess glare; but who really cares about these
secondary benefits right? LOL. We’re here for the fashion. Not sure what frame type best fits your face shape? Check out my previous article on this topic here.
Casual Loafers – These beauties allow you to stay stylish comfortably. These are a favorite go-to for my hubby. He wears them dressed with jeans or in the warmer months—he rocks them sockless with a pair of fabulous cargo shorts and a graphic or colored crew neck tee. Which ever you choose, rest assure that you’ll be rocking these in both style and comfort.
Wallet – Every man should own a great quality wallet. Whether you use it to store your business cards, cash or that American Express black card—it is uber stylish to whip out a fabulous leather wallet that is in tact and is not falling apart. So if you are carrying one that has seen its worst days, it’s time to upgrade. You can find some fabulous options at your local Marshalls or TJMaxx.
Brown Leather Belt – This will complement those leather brown pointed toe shoes fabulously. I love to see a man color coordinated with his belt and shoes. The color brown is so versatile that it can be worn with practically any color of choice. My favorite color combo for men? Navy and brown. Throw in some mustard and uh uh uh (shakes head in pure pleasure). For menswear fashion inspiration, visit my Dapper Dime board on Pinterest here.
