DIY: Bling. Blue. Bodycon

Howdy!
When I’m pressed for time and seek a mindless and easy-breezy DIY sewing project, I look to none other than Vogue Pattern V1314. This Tracy Reese pattern comes in handy when in need of a quick DIY dress. While in Chicago this past October, I stopped by Vogue Fabrics and picked up this bold and fabulous swimwear fabric. I first made a pencil skirt and loved the outcome so I decided to make a bodyconcious dress next (thank heavens I purchased 3 yards). This dress meant a lot to me for many reasons. For one, it was the first time since birthing my son I felt the most happy with my weight loss and fitness progress. It took me three entire years to shed my excess pounds (It’s still a work in progress by the way). Am I striving for perfection? No (it doesn’t exist). Am I obsess over my weight loss journey? No. Am I striving for a healthy and fit lifestyle that includes  having a healthy heart and cutting the chances of obesity related illnesses? Absolutely. Am I ok if I lose the battle in completely ridding my thighs of cellulite? Most certainly!
The second reason of importance is when my passion for sewing took a turn in an irreversible direction. I’ve always known since high school that I’ve had a love for creating, sewing and fashion. I dibbled and dabbled a little bit while in college but never took it seriously until recently. I must say that this past year has been so fulfilling and rewarding. I’ve been able to build a fabulous wardrobe with pieces that are tailored specifically for who I am today. Until my fingers meet the keyboard again…..peace & blessings. Modifications: I modified the neckline from a scoop neck (I hate scoop necks) to a boat neck with a knot tied to the upper right. I also omitted the center gathering.
